Analecta Papyrologica è una rivista scientifica peer-reviewed che si ispira al codice etico delle pubblicazioni elaborato da COPE: Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Tutte le parti coinvolte, Organi Scientifici della Rivista, Revisori e Autori, conoscono e condividono i contenuti del codice sotto esplicitati.
La Rivista si prefigge come obiettivo la divulgazione dei risultati originali acquisiti nel campo della Papirologia e in ambiti ad essa affini da studiosi di ogni livello e inquadramento lavorativo (accademici, docenti di scuola, importanti studiosi in pensione, dottorandi, assegnisti, dottori di ricerca e appartenenti ad Enti di Ricerca non Universitari), italiani e stranieri, che abbiano dimostrato alto livello scientifico e metodologico nei contributi presentati. A tale scopo la Rivista si impegna a dar visibilità anche a quegli studiosi, non ancora inquadrati nei ranghi universitari, che dimostrino rigore metodologico e alta scientificità nei propri lavori.
1) Doveri degli Organi Scientifici della Rivista
- La Rivista accoglie i manoscritti per la valutazione del loro contenuto scientifico, senza distinzione di razza, sesso, orientamento sessuale, credo religioso, origine etnica, cittadinanza, orientamento scientifico, accademico o politico degli autori. A tal fine la Rivista opera nel pieno rispetto dell’articolo 21 della Costituzione Italiana («Tutti hanno il diritto di manifestare liberamente il proprio pensiero con la parola, lo scritto e ogni altro mezzo di diffusione»), senza operare censura di sorta, nel rispetto della dignità personale altrui, senza offesa nei toni o infamia e previo parere favorevole dai revisori anonimi.
- Il Direttore, di concerto con il Condirettore e il Comitato Scientifico, è il responsabile ultimo della decisione di pubblicare gli articoli sottoposti alla Rivista. È vincolato dalle disposizioni di legge vigenti in materia di diffamazione, violazione del copyright e plagio.
- Nell’assumere le proprie decisioni, il Direttore si avvale del supporto del Condirettore e del Comitato Scientifico e di almeno due revisori scelti tra studiosi ed esperti, secondo una procedura di double-blind peer-review.
- Il Direttore, il Condirettore, il Comitato Scientifico e il Comitato di Redazione sono tenuti a non divulgare alcuna informazione sui manoscritti ricevuti a soggetti diversi dagli autori, revisori e potenziali revisori.
- Il materiale inedito contenuto nei manoscritti sottoposti alla Rivista non può essere usato dai componenti degli Organi della Rivista per le proprie ricerche senza il consenso scritto dell’autore.
- Se il Direttore rileva o riceve segnalazioni in merito ad errori o imprecisioni, conflitto di interessi o plagio in un articolo pubblicato, ne dà tempestiva comunicazione all’autore, intraprende le azioni necessarie per le verifiche adatte e, in caso di necessità, ritira l’articolo o pubblica una ritrattazione o nota informativa, se già uscito.
- Gli organi della Rivista devono essere disponibili ad accettare critiche fondate circa lavori pubblicati, senza precludere la possibilità di pubblicare ricerche che mettano in discussione lavori precedentemente pubblicati. Rientra tra i doveri, inoltre, pubblicare correzioni, chiarimenti e ritrattazioni, dove ce ne sia bisogno. Agli autori deve sempre essere data l’opportunità di rispondere scientificamente sulla rivista alle critiche mosse e dimostrando, con prove inconfutabili, l’inesattezza delle critiche ricevute, almeno nella misura e nell’estensione del numero di pagine pari a quello nel quale sono stati criticati.
- La proprietà della rivista e la casa editrice che ne cura la pubblicazione non possono interferire con le decisioni della Direzione in merito alla scelta degli articoli da pubblicare.
2) Doveri dei revisori
- Il revisore selezionato che non si senta qualificato alla revisione del manoscritto assegnato, o che sappia di non essere in grado di eseguire la revisione nei tempi indicati, deve notificare la sua decisione alla Direzione, rinunciando a partecipare al processo di revisione.
- I manoscritti ricevuti per la revisione devono essere trattati come documenti riservati. Essi non devono essere mostrati o discussi con alcuno.
- La revisione deve essere condotta con obiettività. Non è ammesso criticare o offendere personalmente un autore. I revisori devono esprimere le proprie opinioni in modo chiaro e con il supporto di argomentazioni valide e documentate. Ogni dichiarazione, osservazione o argomentazione riportata deve preferibilmente essere accompagnata da una corrispondente citazione.
- I revisori forniscono alla Direzione un parere favorevole, favorevole con correzioni o non favorevole, motivando il giudizio e indicando eventuali correzioni e suggerimenti atti a migliorare il manoscritto, da comunicare in secondo momento agli autori.
- Il revisore deve richiamare l’attenzione del Direttore qualora ravvisi una somiglianza sostanziale o una sovrapposizione tra il manoscritto in esame e qualunque altro documento pubblicato di cui è a conoscenza.
- I revisori non devono accettare manoscritti nei quali abbiano conflitti di interesse derivanti da rapporti di concorrenza o di collaborazione in atto con gli autori del manoscritto in oggetto.
3) Doveri degli autori
- I manoscritti proposti devono essere inediti, non solo nel contenuto, ma anche nella lingua. Gli autori si impegnano a non sottoporre in maniera fraudolenta alla Rivista traduzioni di propri articoli pubblicati in altre sedi.
- Gli autori sono invitati ad indicare in nota introduttiva, se il lavoro è frutto di un incarico derivante da un progetto di ricerca finanziato.
- Gli autori devono garantire che le loro opere siano originali; nei punti in cui sono utilizzati il lavoro e/o le parole di altri autori, anche parafrasate, devono inserire il riferimento al lavoro di tali autori in maniera precisa e chiara (nome dell’autore, titolo dell’opera e pagine coinvolte) e devono citare tutte le pubblicazioni da cui hanno tratto informazioni riproposte.
- Gli autori devono dichiarare di aver acquisito tutti i diritti alla pubblicazione delle immagini, soprattutto dei reperti scritti, dalle Istituzioni o Enti presso i quali i reperti si conservano e che ne detengono il copyright.
- Sottoscrivendo la liberatoria ricevuta, gli autori si impegnano a rinunciare al diritto d’autore, ma potranno rendere pubblico il proprio contributo in formato digitale sui siti ministeriali senza embargo e su siti scientifici di indiscussa serietà, previa autorizzazione della Direzione della Rivista, almeno 12 mesi dopo la pubblicazione.
- Qualora un autore riscontri errori significativi o inesattezze nel manoscritto da pubblicare ha il dovere di comunicarlo tempestivamente alla Direzione della Rivista e cooperare con la stessa al fine di ritrattare, correggere o ritirare il manoscritto.
- Gli autori, autorizzando la pubblicazione dei propri lavori scientifici, accettano la possibilità di ricevere critiche sia costruttive che negative da parte della comunità scientifica.
Analecta Papyrologica is a scientific peer-reviewed journal that takes its inspiration from the ethical code for publication elaborated by COPE: Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. All the parties involved, the Journal’s Scientific Committees, the Reviewers and the Authors, will read and share the contents of the code, as they are explicated below. The Journal takes as its objective the divulgation of original results obtained in the field of Papyrology and related fields by scientists of all levels and of every working situation (academics, school teachers, prominent retired researchers, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, PhD students, and members of non-University Research Institutions), Italians and non-Italians alike, who have demonstrated a high scientific and methodological level in their submissions. For this purpose, the Journal is committed to giving visibility also to those researchers who are not yet established in the University ranks, but who demonstrate methodological rigour and high scientificity in their works.
1) Duties of the Journal’s Scientific Committees
• The Journal accepts manuscripts for evaluation on the basis of their scientific contents, without distinction of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or the scientific, academic or politic orientation of their authors. For this purpose the Journal operates in full compliance with Article 21 of the Italian Constitution («Anyone has the right to freely express their thoughts in speech, writing, or any other form of communication»), without effecting censorship of such a kind, respecting the personal dignity of all individuals, without shaming or offending anyone, and following the favourable opinion of the anonymous reviewers.
• The Director, in consultation with the co-Director and the Scientific Committee, is ultimately responsible for the decision to publish the articles submitted to the Journal. He is bound by the current legal provisions on defamation, copyright violation and plagiarism.
• In taking his decision, the Director will be supported by the co-Director and the Scientific Committee and at least two Reviewers chosen from among scientists and experts, according to double-blind peer-review procedure.
• The Director, the co-Director, the Scientific Committee and the Editorial Committee are obliged not to divulge any information about the received manuscripts to anyone apart from their author, the reviewers and potential reviewers.
• The unpublished material contained within manuscripts submitted to the Journal cannot be used by any member of the Journal’s Committees for their research without the written consent of the author.
• If the Director observes, or receives reports about mistakes or inaccuracies, conflicts of interest or plagiarism in a published article, he will communicate this in a timely way to the author, will take the necessary steps toward suitable verification and, in case of need, will publish a retraction or a note with corrigenda.
• The Journal’s Committees must be available to accept well-founded critiques about its published works, without precluding the possibility of publishing research that calls previously published works into question. There is included furthermore among their duties that of publishing corrections, clarifications and retractions, wherever required. The authors must always be given the opportunity to scientifically respond, in the Journal, to critiques brought against them and to demonstrate, through irrefutable proofs, the inaccuracy of these critiques, in a space no less than the same number of pages in which they were criticised.
• The ownership of the Journal and of the publishing house that shall handle its publication cannot interfere with the decision of the Direction with regard to the choice of articles to publish.
2) Reviewer duties
• Any selected Reviewers who do not feel qualified to review the manuscript assigned to them, or who know that they are incapable of carrying out their review within the time period indicated, must notify their decision to the Direction, thus relinquishing their participation in the review process.
• The manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They cannot be shown to or discussed with anybody.
• All reviews must be conducted with objectivity. It is prohibited to personally criticise or offend an author. The Reviewers must express their opinion clearly and with the support of valid and well-documented arguments. Every declaration, observation or argument reported will preferably be accompanied by a corresponding citation.
• The Reviewers will provide to the Direction a favourable or unfavourable opinion, justifying their judgment and indicating possible corrections and suggestions, such as are liable to improve the manuscript, and which are to be subsequently communicated to the authors.
• The Reviewers, in noting any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript in question and any other published document of which they are aware, shall bring this to the attention of the Direction.
• The Reviewers shall not accept manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, derived from relations of ongoing competition or collaboration with the Author of the manuscript in question.
3) Author duties
• The proposed manuscript must be unpublished, not only in its content, but also in its language. The Authors agree not to fraudulently submit to the Journal translations of their own articles published in other places.
• The Authors are invited to indicate in an introductory note if their work is the result of an assignment derived from a financed research project.
• The Authors must guarantee that their work is original; at those points in which they have used the work and/or words of another author, even should this be paraphrased, they must insert reference to the work of this author in a precise and clear way (author name, work title and relevant pages), and must mention all the publications from which they have extracted information.
• The Authors declare to have acquired all the right for the publication of all images, above all those of written artefacts, from the Institution or Agency by which the artefacts are preserved and which are holders of their copyright.
• By signing the release form, the Authors agree to forfeit their copyright; they can however publish their submission in digital form on the ministerial websites without embargo and on scientific sites of undisputed seriousness, given prior authorization by the Direction of the Journal, at least 12 months after publication.
• Should the Author notice significant errors or inaccuracies in their submitted manuscripts, they have the duty to communicate this in a timely way to the Direction of the Journal and to cooperate with the same in order to correct or withdraw the manuscript, or to add a note with corrigenda.
• The Authors, by authorising the publication of their scientific works, accept the possibility that they will receive critiques, both constructive and negative, from the scientific community.
